Education is a gift that none can take away 

I have had the privilege of being elected since 2006 as a public school trustee, an experience which has taught me a great deal about public service. Responsibility matters, accountability matters and earning the public’s trust matters.
 

This has provided me with a comprehensive understanding of municipal government, regional partnerships, and how decisions are made and implemented. I am well prepared to transition quickly and effectively into the role of Ward 1 Local Councillor.
 

I have a reputation for strong leadership, making sound decisions based on evidence, and sound fiscal management

I now want to take that experience, the skills I have developed, and my passion for advocating for the people of Milton to Town Hall.
 

I believe Milton deserves representatives who are prepared to listen, to ask difficult questions, do their homework and remember that every decision made at Town Hall belongs to the people who live here.

Accountability

I am not running because I believe I have all the answers. I am running because I believe residents deserve to be part of finding them. I believe Council should welcome scrutiny, encourage respectful debate, consider reasonable alternatives and clearly explain how and why decisions are made.
 

Municipalities are responsible for:

Infrastructure – roads, water and wastewater systems

Growth and Planning – housing, economic development

Community Life – parks, recreation, libraries, fire services

Services – public transit, emergency preparedness, community support
 

A councillor’s role is to represent the interests of the community, establish policies, approve municipal budgets and work collaboratively with other members of council for the betterment of all.

Responsibility

My experience in governance, advocacy, equity, accessibility, and public accountability has shaped how I serve: by listening carefully, asking the right questions, and standing up for residents.

I promise to continue to be a community leader who provides a communication link between the community and the school board
 

Since 2006:

I established “SuperCouncil” – a series of meetings involving school council chairs and principals to problem solve collaboratively the many boundary reviews caused by rapid growth

I am a frequent guest at locally held federal roundtables on such topics as mental health and housing.

I promise I will continue to build collaborative relationships and partnerships with political and business leaders, education partners and parent and community groups
 

Since 2006:

I have been elected since 2011 to represent HDSB and 6 other school boards provincially at the executive level of the Ontario Public School Board Association

 

I have twice been asked to accompany local political leaders to delegate the Ministry of Education on educational and growth issues

 

I have participated in numerous in person and virtual advocacy days at Queen's Park with MPPs and with the Minister of Education
